The Wading Area offers zero-depth entry and various water features including 3 geysers, two water drop umbrellas and a sprinkler. This area offers parent/child water exploration classes and programs for children as young as 6 months. General recreation during open and family swim times are also offered in this area.
The Exercise Area is designed as a multi-purpose space for swimming lessons, water sports and water fitness classes. This space is also available during open and family swim times.
The Current Channel accommodates water walking/jogging, stretching, therapeutic exercises, high-resistance fitness training and various ‘lazy river’ opportunities during open and family swim times. The speed of the current is adjustable and can provide zero to high levels of resistance depending on the intensity desired. The current channel is available for individuals of every age and ability.
The Lap Pool is an independent, designated program area with a private entrance allowing for quiet, uninterrupted lap swimming. There are 3 lanes available. The Lap Pool is equipped with lane lines and markers, back-stroke flags and pace clocks.

Safe Water Temperatures
Pool water and air temperatures in the activity pool has been a conversation over the past year. For many years we have traditionally kept our Activity pool at 90 degrees and air at 80 degrees. However, this does not fall in best practices and our pool areas was not built to be an arthritic pool, but a therapy pool.
The issues this causes are:
1. High humidity, which creates challenging air quality for some users between heat and humidity.
2. Our HVAC was not built to compensate for the environment. The challenging air quality deteriorates our space by peeling that paint and rusting mechanicals.
3. We have a variety of activities that take place in the pool, so we need to find an average temperature to meet everyone’s needs.&
WHAT WE KNOW
According to the American Red Cross and the National Pool and Spa Institute, the recommended minimum pool temperature for most aquatic activities should be
between 83-86 degrees Fahrenheit. This recommended temperature allows our older adults that are engaged in moderate to high-intensity activity and our children, to swim comfortably.
A SOLUTION FOR ALL
While it may feel chilly when you first get in, we know that there are two ways to increase body heat: Internally and externally. The warmer the water, the more passive our programs should be because you are heating externally through water. The majority of our offerings are not considered “passive.”
In addition, the Arthritis Foundation’s guidance says this temperature allows your heart to operate efficiently and is suitable to those with cardiac conditions.
We ask that membership allows us the opportunity to adjust to a new, safer way of offering programming in the pool.
